ECAT Test for Undergraduate Programs

Engineering College Admission test commonly known as ECAT test. University of Engineering and Technology (UET) conduct test for undergraduate admissions for UET and its affiliated engineering universities/ colleges of Punjab. ECAT test for Punjab engineering universities will consist of 100 MCQ’s. Every year around 45,000 students appeared in ECAT test for Public sector engineering universities. There are almost 3000 seats available in UET and other public sector universities of Punjab. ECAT test is very technical and only those students can get admission in desired university and undergraduate program who prepare well, due to less number of seats available. Here is the detail test pattern of ECAT

Total Questions: 100

Total Marks: 400

Physics: 30 MCQ’s

Chemistry: 30 MCQ’s

Mathematics: 30 MCQ’s

English: 10 MCQ’s

ECAT Marking System

Students who are going to appear in ECAT entry test  conducted by UET for Public sector engineering universities of Punjab must note that, ECAT test have negative marking. Each correct answer will add (+4) marks and every wrong answer will deduct (-1) mark from total, un-attempted question will considered as (0).

Example of ECAT Test marks calculation

Total No of Questions: 100 MCQ’s

Questions Attempted: 95

Correct Answers marks: 88 x 4 = 352

Wrong Answers marks: 7 x (-1) = -7

Unanswered Questions: 5 x 0 = 0

Than your total marks will be;

Correct Answers marks – Wrong Answers marks

352 – 7 = 345 Final Score

Aggregate Calculation for Undergraduate Admissions:

The merit calculation for undergraduate admissions will be calculated as follows;

HSSC/FSC (Pre – Engineering or Equivalent): 70%

ECAT Entry Test: 30%

How to Calculate Merit for Undergraduate Bachelor’s Programs:

[Marks Obtained in HSSC / Total Marks of HSSC] x 70 = 70% of HSSC marks

[Marks Obtained in ECAT Test / Total Marks of ECAT Test] x 30 = 30% of ECAT Test marks

70% HSSC Marks + 30% ECAT Test Marks = Aggregate Marks

Example:

Marks Obtained in HSSC = 980/1100

Marks Obtained in ECAT Test = 320/400

Now put values in above formula, we get;

980/1100 x 70 = 62.3636

320/400 x 30 = 24

Aggregate Marks: 62.3636 + 24 = 86.3636
